Should I be worried?

My mom had three doctors appointments yesterday, and got tested for uterine cancer. She said that the doctor took the test because her period was irregular and something else, I don't remember. So yeah, she couldn't go to dinner last night because the test was so painful. Is that some sort of indication of whether she has cancer or not? I am really upset. She is 48 years old and overweight/obese. Could this just be menopause, or is this really something more serious? I am really upset because I love my mom and I really don't want her to have cancer. I love her so much and I am really upset right now. Please respond!
