Why is the left so ignorant of economics, debt, deficits, etc?

why does the left seem so oblivious to economic conditions saying stupid things such as "America is not broke" they seem to think we have endless financial resources and can spend without consciences. They seem to have no idea of the best way to distribute resources they argue for government central planning then deny they are socialist. They have no idea about the condition of our currency and that we are on the verge of being rejected as the reserve currency. We are on the brink of economic catastrophe yet are so oblivious to reality.
